It all began in the May Half term 2007........on holiday in the same hotel our kids recognized each other from nursery while splashing around in the pool. So it’s really thanks to them that we met.
And so our friendship began and an exchange of ideas started to flourish. We were both frustrated at the lack of stylish UV protective children’s swimwear available. We felt that the few items on the market were often garish in colour and unattractive. Not a great look for holiday snaps!
So we started a journey and set out on a mission to create a swimwear and beachwear line which was not only super stylish and cool but also kept our kids safe in the sun. We wanted to encompass a boho style which we both love and at the same time creating a quality product with a particular function.
We could not find any prints we liked so we decided to design those too. Our latest collection is inspired by bohemian travel as exotic holidays are a passion we both share. Some of the themes which inspired us in our prints are Indian elephants, Nepalese buddhas, Mexican skulls, English floral and classic Nantucket inspired marine stripes.
Our Spring/Summer 2011 collection has had an overwhelming response from the press with coverage in all the major magazines and supplements, and a strong celebrity following including Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow, who’s kids have been spotted in Sunuva this summer.
Sunuva is now stocked in department stores such as Harrods and Fenwicks and independent boutiques such as Children Salon and Igloo to name a few. We are also successfully stocked in resorts such as the Four Seasons and the One&Only as well as distribution in the US and throughout Europe.
