SABRINA’S MARRAKESH TRAVEL DIARY # 4
Today was another day of relaxation mixed with a bit of culture. After the huge success of the cooking lesson yesterday, the kids raced off first thing to the kitchen to find Behaja. Whilst they toiled away making our lunch, we lazed around the gloriously refreshing pools surrounded by Palms, Olive trees and Rosemary bushes.
After a delicious chicken tagine and couscous we headed off to the Medina and the Jardins Majorelle. These beautiful gardens were renovated under the stylish eye of Yves St Laurent and the combination of the colourful walls (particularly the cobalt blue) and ceramics with all the greenery is stunning.
A trip on a horse and cart around the medina, the Kings Palace and the Orangerie was a great way to show the kids more of Marrakesh and see the bustling street life.
Our final stop was a rug co-operative where 1500 women make and sell rugs based on their own tribes and designs with all profits being shared equally across them. They were very welcoming and showed the kids how to weave one of their carpets.
Sadly we leave tomorrow but it really has been the perfect short break for a bit of winter sun.
