- First up, what’s your favourite beach?
Ooooh there are so many wonderful beaches in the world. The ones in Hawaii are the best I have experienced. For sheer peace and quiet head to the Four Seasons Resort Lanai, this desert island getaway only has Four Seasons hotels plus a little village. You will find true seclusion here. A glorious golden sand beach all to yourself with rock pools at one end and and the idyllic Four Seasons surrounded by tiki lamps at the other.
- What makes the perfect getaway for your family?
When I travel with my family I like to find something to keep everybody amused and although my husband and I love fine dining and browsing designer shops on a city break, most cities just don’t offer enough to do with children. Our perfect getaway combines an excellent pool for my son with shops and a fine dining and bar scene for us. Monaco is one of our favourite getaways as it is a citybreak with all the benefits of the most magnificent pool in Europe at the Monte Carlo Bay, sunshine and a big toy store.
- Where is the most kid-friendly destination you’ve visited?
We love the Marbella club in Spain. This is without a doubt the best kids club we have tried, taking up some of the best real estate on the property, and if you get a ground floor room the kids can run from the room, to the pool, to the kids club and back to the room. There grounds here are fabulous too, loads of lawns (for more running!) 2 pools and loads of tropical foliage!
- Which 3 words best describe your holiday style?
Always in heels! I find that when you are on holiday you make more of an effort and unless I am on the beach where flipflops are a must, I am always in heels. Recently hubby bought be a pair of heeled trainers and every time I trek around airports I do a little prayer to thank him as they offer all the comfort of flats with a funky style!
- Any tips for keeping kids happy on the plane?
I have been lucky, we always pay a huge amount of attention to my boy playing with him loads so he has always an angel on planes. We make sure to take him for a run around the airport which can help encourage sleep during the flight, and then we ensure that he has his iPad and Nintendo DS and he is super happy. Oh and guess who gets the window seat!
- What small things would you be lost without on holiday?
My Laptop - I am constantly writing so that is essential. Sunglasses and sun tan lotion are a must. To be honest I have always travelled loads and if I forget anything I buy it when I am out there
- What’s on your holiday reading list?
Anything Bill Bryson- he always has me in stitches
- What are your beach bag must-haves?
water, sun tan lotion, rash tops (even better than suntan lotion as less sticky!) bucket spade watering can and
- Bucket list destinations – go!
Travel is a blessing - the fact that we can get on a plane and fly anywhere, for me, is magic. if you get the chance to travel to somewhere idifferent - just go, sometimes the destination is less relevant than simply geting away
- Which holiday sticks in your mind as truly special?
Monaco last Christmas. We met Santa - I think it was the real one!
- Finally, when you get home, what are the signs you’ve been on a successful trip?
Misery! If you feel like crying when you leave, and yearning to go back for weeks after - you have had a great trip!
